Tutti Kids - a creative pathway to achievement and acceptance.
Led by Karen Inwood, the Tutti Kids program consists of a weekly session for one hour that follows the school terms.
In each class, children are introduced to a theme which is explored using:
- percussion instruments
- drama
- creative movement with large and small cloth
- songs
- composition of a rhyme or poem
- listening to sound effects or music
- freedom of expression.
Children work with an experienced drama/music teacher who is also a practising professional artist. They will also be working with assistant tutors who are confident, accomplished young adults with a disability.
Children have opportunities to perform in a range of community and mainstage events through the Tutti Ensemble's various activities.
Children develop skills which foster learning and creativity, enhancing both their educational and career choices and opportunities down the track.
Siblings are encouraged to attend and participate.
An evaluation of Tutti Kids was undertaken by Sophia Poppe, a final year Master of Social Work student at Flinders University, Adelaide, and formed the major part of her four-month fieldwork placement with Tutti Ensemble Inc in early 2009. You may download the report here.
